HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS

The Fiscal Year 2026 (FY26) Folklife Community Grant (FLC) supports programs with folk artists and culture bearers presented by small community organizations. Eligible projects focus on the transmission or presentation of folk arts or traditions that are practiced, valued, and shared within culturally specific communities in Nevada. Eligible projects include, but are not limited to festivals, cultural events, concerts, and gatherings that bring traditional artists, cultural specialists, and communities together.

Projects must be complete before June 30, 2026. Grantees must complete the Final Report by the deadline stated in the award packet.

ELIGIBILITY

To ensure that their project is eligible in the category (folk and traditional arts), the applicant/project must meet the following requirements:

  • Applicants must talk with Folklife Program staff before applying 
  • Must be based in Nevada and (as shown by the address on the organization’s IRS 990 form)
  • Must have federal tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code
  • Must have active incorporation status with the Nevada Secretary of State showing evidence of good standing at the time of application
  • Must have or obtain Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN)
  • Must have a Unique Entity ID (UEI) from SAM.gov

Organizations that received an FY26 Project Grant for Organizations, Arts Learning Project grant, or Operating Support Grant are not eligible to apply for the FY26 Folklife Community grant. Applicants may receive one FLC per fiscal year and are limited to two consecutive years of funding in the category. 

GRANT AMOUNT: Up to $5,000 (no 1:1 cash or in-kind match required except for organizations with annual budgets over $50,000)* 

Funds may be used for artist fees (applicant, collaborating, and production), facility costs, permanent equipment (not to exceed $750), consumable materials/supplies, production costs/materials, marketing/promotion, travel (accommodations and transportation only), or other relevant project expenses. Grant funds may be disbursed as an advance payment upon receipt of the signed terms and conditions or as reimbursement. Documentation of the use of grant funds must be provided in the Final Report and must match the proposed expenses.

REVIEW PROCESS

Nevada Arts Council staff will review applications for completeness and adherence to program requirements. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements, demonstrate the artistic excellence of participating folk artists, and establish the artistic merit of the project as it relates to the cultural community represented. 

Applications that meet all requirements will be awarded in the order in which they are received while funds remain available. A record of the review process is maintained for all applications. Grants are contingent on available funding as approved by the Nevada Arts Council Board.

¿CÓMO FUNCIONA EL PROGRAMA?

La subvención para comunidades folclóricas (FLC) del año fiscal 2025 financia programas que presentan artistas folclóricos y portadores de cultura a través de pequeñas organizaciones comunitarias. Los proyectos elegibles se centran en la transmisión o presentación de las artes o tradiciones populares que se practican, valoran y comparten dentro de comunidades culturalmente específicas de Nevada. Los proyectos elegibles incluyen, entre otros, festivales, eventos culturales, conciertos y reuniones que reúnen a artistas tradicionales, especialistas culturales y comunidades.

Los proyectos deberán completarse antes del 30 de junio de 2026. Los beneficiarios deben completar el informe final en línea  especificada en el paquete de premio. 

ELEGIBILIDAD

Para asegurar que su proyecto sea elegible para la categoría de artes populares y tradicionales, el solicitante/proyecto debe cumplir con los requisitos que siguen: 

  • Los solicitantes deberán comunicarse con el personal del Programa Para Artistas Folclóricos (FLA) antes de presentar su solicitud 
  • Debe tener su sede en Nevada (según la dirección que figure en el formulario IRS 990 de la organización)
  • Debe tener estatus de exención de impuestos federales bajo la Sección 501(c)(3) del Código de Rentas Internas o solicitarlo con un agente fiscal que tenga este estatus.
  • Debe tener un estatus de incorporación activo con el secretario del estado de Nevada que muestra que tiene buena posición en el momento de la solicitud
  • Debe tener u obtener Número Federal de Identificación del Empleador (FEIN)
  • Debe poseer con un ID de entidad única (UEI) de SAM.gov 

Las organizaciones que reciben una subvención de Proyectos para Organizaciones (PGO), una subvención de Aprendizaje Artístico (ALP) o una subvención de Apoyo Operativo (OS) no son elegibles para solicitar la subvención para comunidades folclóricas (FLC) FY26. Los solicitantes pueden recibir una subvención FLC por año fiscal y están limitados a dos años consecutivos de financiación en la categoría.

MONTO DE LA SUBVENCIÓN: Hasta $5,000 (no se requiere fondos paralelos excepto para organizaciones con presupuestos anuales superiores a $50,000)

Los fondos se pueden utilizar para honorarios de artistas (solicitante, colaboración y producción), alquiler de espacios, equipo permanente (no más de $750), materiales/suministros consumibles, costos de producción/materiales, marketing/promoción, viaje (solamente el alojamiento y transporte) u otros gastos relevantes para el proyecto. Los fondos de la subvención se desembolsarán como pago adelantado al recibir los términos y condiciones firmados o como reembolso. La documentación sobre el uso de los fondos de la subvención deberá incluirse en el informe final y deberá alinearse con los gastos propuestos.

PROCESO DE REVISIÓN

El personal del Nevada Arts Council revisará las solicitudes para confirmar que están completas y que cumplen con los requisitos del programa. Los solicitantes deberán cumplir con los requisitos de elegibilidad, demostrar la excelencia artística de los artistas folclóricos involucrados y establecer el mérito artístico del proyecto en relación con la comunidad cultural que representan. 

Las solicitudes que cumplen con todos los requisitos se otorgarán por orden de llegada, siempre que haya fondos disponibles. Se mantiene un registro del proceso de revisión para todas las solicitudes. Las subvenciones están supeditadas a la financiación disponible según lo aprobado por la Junta del Nevada Arts Council.

Revisar recursos adicionales para solicitantes (Los especialistas de folclore y subvenciones están disponibles para apoyar a los solicitantes durante el proceso y para ayudarles identificar recursos y soluciones para desafíos, incluso los problemas técnicos que enfrentan a los solicitantes cuando preparan su solicitud con el sistema de gestión de las subvenciones en línea.)
