We have been organizing a movie pre screening at Summit Church in Sparks on 7/10 (5:30pm – 9:30pm) for an upcoming Hollywood movie called “Sight”. “Sight” is based on the true story of a Christian brother (Dr. Ming Wang) who is a world-class eye surgeon. Here is the essence of Movie Sight: A little blind orphan girl from India, named Kajal, whose eyes were destroyed intentionally by her stepmother beyond restoration for any physical sight, became Dr. Wang’s teacher and restored his spiritual sight instead. There is more to life than what we can see with our physical sight. This is why Dr. Wang can move on and continue to trust in God and allow himself to be a blessing to many others.

Facts about Dr. Wang:
Grew up in Hangzhou in China, and went to the University of Science and Technology of China right after the Cultural Revolution.

Ph.D in laser physics from Univ of Maryland, MD from Harvard/MIT

Inventor of Amniotic membrane contact lens. This technology has been used by tens of thousands of eye doctors in nearly every nation throughout the world, and millions of patients have had their eyesight restored.

One of the first eye surgeons in the United States to perform bladeless, all-laser LASIK, and SMILE (small incision lenticular extraction). To this day, his LASIK and SMILE procedures have exceptionally high rates of success. His world-renowned reputation led to him being selected as a LASIK surgeon for ABC’s national hit-show, Extreme Makeover.

Dr. Wang’s patients include music stars such as Dolly Parton, Charlie Daniels, Kenny Chesney, Naomi Judd, Nicole Kidman, Amy Grant, and a “Dancing with the Stars” winner, Julianne Hough.

In the U.S. only 5% cataract surgeries are performed with lasers (1% for China.) Dr. Wang uses lasers for 100% of his surgeries. Why? Many doctors don’t know physics well enough to use lasers for surgery which requires adjusting laser parameters.

The Wang Foundation for Sight Restoration, a 501c(3) non-profit charity founded by Dr. Wang has helped patients (esp. Blind orphans) from over 40 states in the U.S. and 55 countries worldwide, with all sight restoration surgeries performed free-of-charge.
