The 2024 Reno Jazz Festival presents the groundbreaking ensemble, GEORGE. GEORGE features four individual “earthworkers,” as the derivation of the moniker implies, who excavate and create intense and intriguing music, the sound of which defies categories and labels. The visionary behind the quartet, John Hollenbeck, is an award-winning, genrecrossing composer-percussionist, renowned in the jazz and new music worlds. The quartet features: Anna Webber (tenor sax/flute), Aurora Nealand (voice/sax/keyboards), Chiquita Magic (keyboards/voice), and John Hollenbeck (drums/piano/composition).
