Big Softy welcomes artwork from 23 different artists working within the realm of soft sculpture and textile-based work. With this media, artists demonstrate hard concepts and difficult conversations through a soft, welcoming appearance. Colors and textures dominate the white gallery walls and create a playful exhibition that challenges viewers to dive within the complexities each artist spins from yarn. Our juror, Adriana Chavez (she/they), brings her experience in visual arts and sculptural installation to Big Softy. She has exhibited at several art venues, including The Format Festival in the United Kingdom, The Momentary, The Lilley Museum of Art, Holland Project, Goldwell Open Air Museum & Red Barn Art Center, Donna Beam Fine Art Gallery, Charleston Heights Arts Center, Winchester-Dondero Cultural Center, Gallery Mesa, Nuwu Art Gallery, La Matadora Gallery, and University of Nevada, Las Vegas’ Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art.
