Nevada Touring Initiative (NTI)
In 2023, Nevada Touring Initiative delivered 6 high-quality visual arts exhibits to communities throughout the state. We were thrilled to welcome our newest community -West Wendover -to our list of communities who have hosted our exhibitions!
Stephen Reid, Artist Services Specialist, highlighted the significance of the partnership with West Wendover that began with collaboration with former Mayor Daniel Corona. “This collaboration has paved the way for continuous traveling art exhibits to our constituents in the region. Following Daniel’s departure, our ongoing work with West Wendover’s City Manager, Chris Melville, has been particularly noteworthy. Chris has demonstrated exceptional support in showcasing art at City Hall and cultivating deeper cultural connections with its residents,” said Stephen Reid.
Does your organization have space to host one of our NTIs? We are currently seeking venues to host Meaning is Always Here, an exhibit which features 14 two-dimensional artworks curated from the University of Nevada Las Vegas’ Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art’s permanent collection. Nevada’s Arts & Culture Sector Generated $662.5 Million of Economic Activity
The Nevada Arts Council partnered nationally with the Americans for the Arts, and regionally with the City of Reno, the City of Las Vegas, and Clark County, to collect data for Arts & Economic Prosperity 6 (AEP6), an economic and social impact study of the nonprofit arts and culture industry.
In the State of Nevada, the sector generated $662.5 million in economic activity during 2022—$249.7 million in spending by arts and culture organizations and an additional $412.8 million in event-related expenditures by their audiences. That economic activity supported 9,640 jobs, provided $436.5 million in personal income to residents, and generated $156.3 million in tax revenue to local, state, and federal governments.

Nevadan to Nevadan: What I Need to Tell You
Since its launch in 2022, the Nevadan to Nevadan: What I Need to Tell You poetry project has showcased the incredible talent of Nevadan poets, with a total of 189 poems published so far. Our diverse group of writers have shared their unique perspectives on life in Nevada. Through their words, we have been transported from the High Desert to the Bonanza, along the Loneliest Highway, and even breakouts from Area 51. These poems have explored various themes, including love for our cities and towns, the vices of Sin City, and the ever-changing landscapes and people of Nevada. This project, curated and edited by Nevada State Poet Laureate, Gailmarie Pahmeier, has been a resounding success. As we near the end of this journey, we invite you to immerse yourself in the world of epistolary poems dedicated to Nevada. Stay tuned for the final publications, which will be announced in the coming weeks.
