Nevada Arts Council hires specialist to strengthen Nevada communities through the arts

CARSON CITY, Nevada — The Nevada Arts Council (NAC) has hired Michelle Patrick as a Community Arts Development specialist and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) coordinator, assisting nonprofit arts organizations and municipalities with program development, grant offerings, and other functions to strengthen Nevada communities through the arts.

Patrick has previous experience with the NAC, having worked for the agency from 2018 to 2020. She also has enjoyed tenures at the city of Las Vegas, Denver Center for the Performing Arts, and Sundance Film Festival, among other institutions.

“We are thrilled to have Michelle back on our team,” Tony Manfredi, Nevada Arts Council executive director, said. “Michelle is passionate about the role that arts and creativity play in our communities and has the programmatic, organizational and collaboration skills to support this role.”

Patrick’s previous NAC work includes helping to launch the Nevada Basin to Range Exchange, a program dedicated to promoting rural and urban arts collaborations; and Ideas Through Reconciliation, an initiative designed to evaluate bias in creative spaces. Patrick also is a grant panelist for the National Endowment of the Arts, and a board member of the Nevada Women’s Film Festival. She previously served as a board member for the 18b Arts District Neighborhood Association in Las Vegas and as an advisor to the city of Henderson’s Arts and Cultural Advisory Council. She has advised Denver arts groups Cleo Parker Robinson Dance and City Park Jazz. She is an alumna of the Western States Arts Federation (WESTAF) Emerging Leaders of Color initiative and the National YoungArts Foundation.
